Here comes the rain....

Holy cow, it sounds like someone is pouring huge buckets of water over my house right now! Not to mention the lightning and thunder :) I actually love storms so I am sort of enjoying it. I just got back from dance class. My clothes are pretty much soaked like I just went swimming in them! Dance has got to be one of the hardest workouts, BUT also one of the most fun! When I am on the go one of my favorite meals that I can throw in my purse is: a Larabar and Ostrim Jerky.

Larabars are sooooo good. They have nothing but fruit and nuts in them, and the jerky has a whopping 14 grams of protein per stick! I am off to do some chores!!

Where do you get those products?

  2. Have you tried Zumba? Talk about a lot of fun. If you get a high energy teacher like I have, you could wring out the sweat from your workout bra when you're done.

  3. So nice to have a bit of a break from the heat! I have the same questions as helderheid, where do you find the jerky? I live in Canada - but right close to the Washington border...so I can go there to pick it up if we don't have it here. Thanks!

  5. I actually did go to a zumba class this week for the first time. It was really fun, and definitely a workout! Costco carries a variety pack of the Larabars right now, but you can usually find them in most health food stores like whole foods. Ostrim is in a variety of places, but you can buy it by the box from amazon for a good price. The ostrich jerky really is good, and tastes better than regular jerky if you ask me :)

  6. I like lara bars as well but only for a snack post workout or when looking for a treat because there is a bunch of sugar in them...my preferred flavor is the cashew bar, but we can only get the pack of key lime, chocolate and cashew. We had a different storm in edmonton...the smoke from the fires in the west rolled in today.

  7. Now Karl, don't freak everyone out that I just told them to eat a whole bunch of added sugar :) It is the sugar that naturally occurs in the fruit or the nuts ONLY :) My favorite is Pecan Pie! Yum! But it is not in the Costco pack. That has Apple Pie, Cherry Pie, and Peanut Butter. Still all good.

  8. Jen, are you back down to your LIW? When you eat low carb, how many calories do you stick to and what are your % of carbs, protein and fat on averge that helps with the loss? You have done so well at getting back when you are up and then staying there!

  9. Lis- I am not all the way back to where I was before vacation, because I keep having too much fun on the weekends:) From what I can tell, after the water weight left, I gained about 3-4lbs over the 17 day vacation. Not too bad. When I eat normally, my only rules are to keep carbs at 100 grams or less a day and protein between 80-110 grams. If I do that any weight I am carrying seems to come off at about a pound a day until I am back to where I was. Calorie wise I maintain at around 2000-2300, and lose well when i am around 1650-1750. I am doing another round at the beginning of Sept, so I think that is why I am goofing off too much :)
