R3 LM D46...

Photo courtesy of World of Mysteries.

I was just reading an article over at World of Mysteries. They show all of the popular drinks from Vitamin Water to Rockstar to Starbucks. Along with many of the favorite drinks at fast food restaurants. The kicker is they have pictures of the drinks with an example of their sugar equivalent along side them!!! HOLY CRAP!! That really puts things into perspective :) Click here to see the article: http://worldmysteries9.blogspot.com/2010/05/harmful-drinks-in-america.html.

Had a great free day yesterday, and am back on track to day! The sun is out, and supposed to get even warmer from here on out. Just got back from a walk around the lake, and will probably go play volleyball at the park a little later.... have a great holiday weekend!

R3 LM D45.... Maintenance Photos!

Well, I said I would be accountable and keep up with photos. So here is today. The first photo is at the end of my 3rd round on 3/4/10 (with a lot of self tanner :). The second is 4/9/10. And the last is today at 5/29/10. It has been almost 3 months since my last round. My weight in the first photo is 144.4 my original LIW. The second is 149.8 after adding excercise and locking in. The last is today at 149.4 where I seem to want to stay.

After scrutinizing as much as I can, I think they pretty much look the same. I do think things are slowly tightening up with the exercise. I still wish my butt and thighs looked better, but overall I am pleased with the maintenance. Let me know what you think. As usual, I could be off my rocker and you guys will tell me to consider another round:) Then again when I put in in perspective, I really can't complain..... :)

R3 LM D44......

As of this morning I am same weight as last week: 149.4! So here is what I have found. If I have one free day on Saturday, then I just have to follow my normal eating pattern and I will be back to 149.4 by Thursday. If I have 2 free days on the weekend, then I do a steak day on Monday, then follow the my regular program and am back to 149.4 by Friday. It works like clockwork so far :) So easy and I love my food. I think I will take another round of photos tomorrow morning to compare to the end of my last round. It has been over a month since the last ones and my weight is exactly the same this morning. I know I could lose another 12lbs or so and have toyed around with another round, but the hubby doesn't want me to. He likes curvy girls :) And probably to make my butt get smaller, I would have to look emaciated everywhere else. I am okay for now, and he would always support me no matter what. So I am just going to enjoy life until I really feel the need to do it again :) Here was yesterday:

R3 LM D41.... Coconut Pudding!

I came across this recipe on karlmacphee.com Is is called coconut pudding. It only requires almond flour, coconut milk, egg yolk and maple syrup (or honey or stevia). I was trying to keep the carbs lower so I just used 2 tbsp sugar free maple syrup and a sprinkle of stevia. I also put a little vanilla and cinnamon in mine. It was warm and delicious! Click on this link for the recipe and directions: http://karlmacphee.com/2010/05/22/coconut-pudding/.

My variation was:

56g or 4TBSP almond flour
1 egg yolk
1 can coconut milk
2 tbsp sugar free maple syrup
stevia, cinnamon, and vanilla to taste.
* about 8 70% cocao dark choc chips :)

After making this a second time here is what I did:

28g almond flour
1 cup almond milk
1 egg yolk
2 tbsp sugar free maple syrup
1 packet stevia, cinnamon, and vanilla
1 tsp arrowroot
7g pecans, 7g coconut flakes, 7g dark choc chips
This is one serving, while the other one was for 2. YUMMY!

Yesterday when I got to work, I was greeted by a policeman! Someone had busted out our front window and stolen all of our product and stevia! So sad! We were able to get more shipped in and are putting things back together. I can't believe what people will do these days! Starting a new business is hard enough without having to deal with things like this. So frustrating!!

R3 LM D39....... Hot Pockets :)

As you all know I try not to eat anything out of boxes or bags. For this mornings humor, this is a very good reminder as to WHY!

So yesterday was definitely too FREE of a day! I was so sick by last night. It started off great. I went running and then went to Kneaders for french toast. Delicious! Then we went shopping and everyone has told us we need to try Five Guys burgers. So that was where we went to lunch. I am an In-and-Out girl thru and thru, so I was a little skeptical :) I will say their fries were pretty good, but I don't want the fries so much anymore. I got the bacon cheeseburger and all the fixings. I had the bun too. The funny thing is the bun completely ruined it. It tasted like chemical cardboard. I tried to take it off, and it was so messy. In the end, I would not go back. Sorry Five Guys lovers, for me it is double, double protein style any day :) Then we went to see the movie "Letter to Juliet". It was really good. We shared some red velvet bundt cake, reeses pieces, licorice and nuts. TOO MUCH! When we got home we took our son to get some sundried tomato cheese bread and Coldstone. I was sure I was going to throw up but I didn't :) Needless to say, I was not proud :) I gained 3 pounds from yesterday! BUT- that doesn't scare me. I have my new secret weapon: excellent "carb tweaked" eating, combined with fun excercise = same weight next saturday! :)

R3 LM D38......

Happy Saturday everyone! So today is the weigh in. Last saturday morning I was 149.4. My goal was to have a free saturday and then eat on program all week. Then don't weigh all week and weigh again on Saturday morning and see if I was the same weight or lower. Well, this morning I am..... 149.4! I did really good about the scale, but have to admit I did get on once on Tuesday morning. It was 151.8 so I was a little nervous about today. But just like last week it corrected itself with good eating :) Plus, knowing I get to have whatever I want on Saturday makes any temptations thru out the week easier. Today I am considering the following: Kneaders french toast, In and Out, Coldstone, Cafe Rio, and glazed nuts! Now if the sun would just come out, that would be the icing on the cake :)

R3 LM D37....... Pancakes!

I was going thru some old recipes and found my favorite pancake recipe that I used to use during Body for Life. They are really good with tons of protein. Perfect way to start the day!

Protein Pancakes:

4 egg whites
(56g) 1/4 cup cottage cheese
(40g) 1/2 cup oats
1 packet NuStevia sweetner (0r sweetner of your choice)
cinnamon to taste

Syrup:
1/4 cup sugar free syrup
(31g) 1/4 cup costco frozen berry mix (or fresh berry)

I just put all the pancake ingredients into the magic bullet and blend. Then make like regular pancakes over medium heat. While that is cooking I put the syrup in the small magic bullet cup along with the berries. Put in the microwave for 30 seconds, then take out and blend for 10 seconds. Instant berry syrup! This makes 3 good sized pancakes. The picture only has about 1/2 the syrup recipe because I wanted you to be able to see the pancakes before I covered them completely!

Calories: 306.5 Protein: 27.75 Carbs: 34.25 (I don't count the sugar alcohol carbs in the syrup. The carbs would be even lower if you subtract the fiber from the oats and berries.)

R3 LM D35....

Okay, if that one didn't make you laugh your butt off, then you probably don't have a 17 year old son that doesn't understand what a belt is!! I just don't get what is comfortable about having to pull your pants up every 5 seconds :) Not much to report. Work is getting busier so that is nice. I am still not weighing until saturday and following my usual program. I have not worked out in the last 2 days because my neck is acting up, but I am hoping to go to volleyball tonight, and maybe dance tomorrow morning..... :) I tried the avocado egg salad from yesterday's post, and it was great!

R3 LM D33.... Bacon,Egg,Tomato and Avocado salad!

I was catching up over at marksdailyapple.com, and came across this recipe! YUM! I am going to have this for lunch tomorrow. All of my favorites in one dish :) The recipe can be found at this link: http://www.marksdailyapple.com/bacon-egg-avocado-and-tomato-salad/#more-12570. I had a great free day on Saturday. First I went to kickboxing class and sweated my guts out. Then I went to Cafe Rio and had my favorite salad and Key Lime Pie! Delish! Next, we went to the park and I just chilled in a lawn chair in the sun while reading the latest gossip mag and snacked on some swedish fish :) Finally, we went to see Iron Man 2. It was really good and I enjoyed my favorite glazed almonds. Pretty good day, if I do say so myself :) Sunday, I got right back on program and have been doing great and have even managed to stay off the scale :) Let's see if I can make it to Saturday as planned..... we will see ;)

R3 LM D31.... Primal Energy Bars!

I keep finding these great comic strips, so until they run out your stuck with them :) And besides, they make me laugh and remember to not take all this stuff so seriously! Lighten up!

So, I have been staying between 148.8 and 149.6 over the past few days. I was hoping to get back to 147.2 which was my adjusted LIW, but when I started running this week it bumped up slightly. Oh well, I can live with that. This morning I was at 149.4. It was a little mentally stressful while bringing the weight back down from the gain, but if I had not been weighing, by the end of the week it would have been back to normal and I wouldn't have even known! I am going to have my free night tonight, and then my regular program all week. I am really going to try to not weigh until next saturday morning and see if I can end up at 149.4 or lower. I saw on Jens blog that she made the primal energy bars, so I made some and they were great! Of course, mine had coconut, macadamias, and dark choc chips as usual :) Here is the link if you are interested. http://www.marksdailyapple.com/primal-energy-bar-redux/.

R3 LM D29...

Down another -2.6 last night! I am at 148.8 this morning. My weight last friday was 147.8, so that is just 1 more pound to go. Even at the 148.8 I am a pound under where I ended P4 a month ago. I can live with that :) I just looked up the forecast for the next week and am quite pleased!! We are finally going to see 80 degrees!

R3 LM D28...

I about died laughing when I read that one! I mean really, who tracks their food like that...... :)

Wow! A lot can happen in 3 days time :) So I had my normal free Saturday as I said in my last post. Then Sunday came. I forgot it was Mothers Day......mistake. Between breakfast in bed, out with the husband and treats galore, I knew I was in trouble :) I had not weighed after Saturday but figured it would have been a pound and a half at least like last week. Well, I braved the scale on Monday and to my complete shock it was +7.3 above where I was on Friday!! WTH?? I did have treats, but not 25,550 calories worth!! So Monday I did a steak day, and then back on my program for Tuesday. I lost 3 on the steak day and 1.2 yesterday. So, I still have about 3 more to be back to 147.8! Obviously, most of that is just water, but still :) I have learned my lesson: one treat day = okay. Two treat days in a row = disaster :) In the past, I would have freaked out over the gain, and then threw in the towel and made it even worse by continuing the eating out of frustration. But this time, I knew that it immediately needed to be corrected and that was it! The sky didn't fall, and the world didn't end..... I just did what I had to do. Cool! I will admit part of me did not want to post and share my weight gain with you all:) I am such a perfectionist, and hate to admit I faltered. BUT- then I remembered that you all love me and that this is what real life looks like. What counts the most is that I picked up the pieces and got right back on program. If we always do that, then we will eventually get where we want to be :)

R3 LM D25...

I think we can all appreciate that :) I know I said I would try to be good and only have one hour on Saturdays, but it always turns into 1/2 day! I followed my program until 3pm and then went to Cheesecake Factory. Had my usual... so good. Then later I had a bunch of odd and ends treats too. Oh well, I will get it right eventually. Of course, I didn't dare get on the scale today :) I am going to follow my carb rule this week again and weigh in on Saturday morning. It will be interesting to see if I continue to lose now that TOM is leaving or if I will just maintain. Either way is fine with me. I would like to find a level that lets me lose 1/2 to 1 lb a week. Not much but just a little every week that would eventually take me to 140. Yesterday I was 147.8, and I think it would be great to get to 140 slowly by end of summer.

R3 LM D22...

Down -1.0! TOM started yesterday as anticipated :) I am only .4 away from my adjusted LIW. Can't believe how easy this is. I played volleyball for a few hours last night and had a great time! I am working for the next 5 days, so things will be pretty busy. I hope you all have a great day :) Here was yesterday:

R3 LM D21...

Things have stayed the same for the last 2 days which is great! TOM still not here but cramps and other tell tale signs have started to show. I usually gain about +2.8 the day before or the morning of, so we will see if that is the case this time. I am so happy the sun has been out for the past couple days. It really makes a difference in how I feel. I have had 3 days off which has been soooo nice to get stuff done. But, I will be working the next 5 days straight to make up for it :) I would like to share this video with you. It is a doctor giving a conference on Sugar: The Bitter Truth. It is 1.5 hours long, but I was glued to my seat the whole time. It really shows the concepts about how sugar/carbs and not fat are the enemy and if you have children you must watch. The things he demonstrates are mind boggling. Especially when you get to see how the end results of feeding your kids that HFCS laden fast food is an exact duplicate of drinking a beer! Unbelievable. I know its long, but so worth your time. Happy Day to you all! Here was yesterday:

This pretty much says it all.....

I absolutely LOVE this. Please take the time to listen all the way thru. You won't regret it. Make sure you have the your speakers on with the sound up! Enjoy :)

R3 LM D20...

Down -0.2! Not much but still something :) Today is 28 days since last TOM. Normally I am on a 28-30 day cycle, so it should be any time. I went to dance class last night, and had a BLAST! If you ever feel stressed.....DANCE! It makes all your troubles disappear:) Today will be weights!! Here was yesterday:

R3 LM D19...

Back on track! I followed my program yesterday, cut the carbs and lost the 1.4 I gained over the weekend :) So in one week I lost 4.6 lbs overall, including one cheat day and one day to lose the cheat gain. I LOVE IT!! I walked for one hour around Daybreak lake in the sunshine :) I read another excellent article yesterday in the May issue of Scientific American regarding more studies showing how wrong the low fat high carb theory is for us. These studies have shown that saturated fat has no impact on heart disease and in fact that carbs are what the culprit is. Please take time and read it if you get a chance! When I was considering joining Crossfit Draper, they have a nutrition program they follow. I laughed, as it is EXACTLY the program I follow now. Here are the "Rules" from their website:

RULES

  • This is a “Diet” that will hopefully improve your lifestyle. All of us trainers have read and tried many different “Diets” throughout the years and we collaboratively have again found some simple truths. Here are the rules: 1. Any and allvegetables are welcome. including green beans (technically a bean/legume) Any and all meats are welcome. You may also have deli meat if there is no sugar in the top five ingredients. You may also have jerky. You can eat them as you see fit. You are welcome to eat any fruits, nuts and seeds. Local honey is fine and agave nectar is fine. 2. Protein Shakes are welcome. In fact we recommend them for the in between times and they can help curb the cravings. For this challenge we are going to say Top Form Whey Protein, is the recommended. You can order it from Hillari. It cannot be a “Meal Replacement Supplement” (because of the sugar) Protein only! 3. Dairy is okay, as long as there is no sugar added. So yes you can eat eggs, cheese, yogurt, sour cream, cottage cheese, or whatever. As long as there is no sugar added! 4. NO Grains! This includes Wheat, Rye, Barley, Corn, Rice, and Millet, Quinoa and Buckwheat and White potatoes, sweet potatoes, yams. (the exception is Oatmeal!) 5. NO SUGAR of course this includes cane sugar, splenda, sweet n low, sugar alcohol, high fructose corn syrup, or anything else you might think up a way of cheating this. 6. No Alcohol. Of course you can have any and all of these things during the one hour you get free per week. You may also have gum.
Here is my day yesterday:

R3 LM D18...

Okay, so I started off good.... I had really planned just to have one free hour :) The theory being you can only eat so much in one hour before you feel sick. We went to JCW for hawaiian burgers (no bun) and shared an order of cheese fries. But cheesecake factory is in the total opposite direction. So we picked those up and took them home. We shared our red velvet and raspberry lemon cheesecakes... YUM! Of course, I could eat way more since it had been several hours since the burgers. Then while watching the movie I had some of my sons candy, a couple pieces of sugar free chocolate, some peanut butter crackers, and some nuts! This morning I was up +1.4 :) So today I am eating regular, but cutting the carbs lower. I learned my lesson. I have not really given my self the freedom to just go crazy since last august unless I was loading! I think it went to me head a little and I couldn't stop :) I am going to really try to follow my hour rule this next Saturday and stick to it. Other than that I am going to continue my current eating and see if I can get to my adjusted LIW of 147.2! After being 3 weeks late last month, TOM is supposed to arrive this week between Tues and Fri, and that always throws a wrench in things, so we will see how it goes :)

R3 LM D17....

I knew the pound a day streak would have to come to an end, but a -0.6 is still pretty dang good :) So that is -4.6 over the last 5 days! This morning I am one pound less than my weight on the last day of p4, almost 3 weeks ago. I have to lose 1.2 to get back to my adjusted LIW, and 4 lbs to get back to my original LIW. I am just going to continue this eating style and see where it takes me. Today is my day to have an hour of whatever I want. I know that there will be cheesecake factory cheesecake, but not sure what I want for dinner. Can't decide between pizza, burger, or mexican..... decisions, decisions:) Here was yesterday:
