R3 P2 D12...

FINALLY!! -1.2 lbs loss this morning :) Much better. Okay I have a couple things to discuss this morning.

#1- Measurements. I took my measurements this morning and have lost 6.25 inches so far which is great. BUT- I just went back to the end of round 2 and compared those to now. I have only lost 1 inch more than I was at the end of round 2. Which means that during the last 12 days, 5.25 inches were being re-lost just to get back to where I was at the end of round 2. My weight did not change but obviously the eating and no exercise changed the composition and inches. I still felt great in my clothes, but by the time I started this round I definitely felt "soft" and flabbier, and there's the proof. If our muscle is being switched over to fat, but the scale nicely staying within the 2 # mark, that is deceiving. I must find out a way keep all of the muscle I have and not let that happen again. I would rather be leaner and a few pounds heavier, than at LIW and flabby. Any input you guys have would be appreciated :)

#2- Update on the girls: LOVING them! Finally they feel completely natural. The swelling is down and they have dropped and rounded out. My doctor is amazing. They look incredible. I am sooooo glad I chose the size I did. Every single person I asked for advice said the following: go just a little bigger than you think you are comfortable with. I did that, and was panicking, but I am so happy I did. They are the perfect size and I would not be as happy had I gone with what I was originally thinking. Husband is a little obsessed.... :)

Here is what I ate today:

1/2 breadstick, 1/2 baked apple, tea

protein shake with strawberries and cocoa

1/2 breadstick

tilapia, asparagus, 1/2 baked apple

  1. Yeah! Glad you saw the scale drop this morning. I had been losing a pound or better until today. Today I saw a .2 gain....but believe it or not, I was anticipating it, first because yesterday I was messing around TOO much (mixed veggies at lunch, and had a bite of my husbands roast) and more importantly...felt good! not like I normally do, meaning I wasn't feeling like I was going to pass out. I am out of ketosis this morning too....grr. However I am going to stay the course. This morning I tried 1/2 cup apple sauce and 1/2 scoop protein before 1.25 hour swim, felt good.
If the weight is the same tomorrow, maybe I will cut out fruit and substitue for cucumbers.....My bf hasn't moved either, which is pissing me off, I look skinny again though, so I am happy with that!

  2. My whole reason for R4 is to reshape. I was working out but got all soft and doughie. My clothes still fit but I definitely had a jelly belly and muffin top. I'm really going to pay attention to the processed carbs when I'm done with this round. I believe they are the culprit, despite the cardio and strength training.

Happy to read you are loving the girls. You must look fab in tshirts!

  3. There should be a law against gains while on this program :) I don't think that mixing veggies or an extra bite of protein would do that. I mixed veggies at the end of last round and lost fine. Especially with all of your working out I think that would counteract it. I have never tested for ketosis.

How do you test your BF at home? Scale/calipers? I have read that the scales are so variable and if you are a true athlete (you) they really can't be relied on for accuracy. I really want to figure out this BF thing and the exercise thing before p3 so I have a plan of attack. It makes no sense that you could be losing weight everyday, working out like a mad woman and your body fat could stay the same. The weight your losing has to come from somewhere (fat or muscle) and either way it will affect your BF level!! So confusing.

But the most important thing is that you are looking SKINNY :) Let's just focus on that :)

  4. Autumn,

How on earth did you get soft and doughy while doing cardio and resistance training:) Are you saying you were eating a lot of processed carbs and you think that is the cause?

I RARELY ate processed carbs in p3,p4 and 2 months of maintenance. I got soft and doughy, but I had quit exercising.

I sure hope that with the combination of very few processed carbs AND the working out is going to make the difference. If not, what do you do?? Is there no way to do this diet and not end up "Skinny but Fat" ????

  5. Jen-
O.K., I thought I was going nuts. Because after I finished the last round and was in phase4 I could of sworm my belly was flubberishy. Seriously, I could tell. Now that you're saying it to, what's the deal? Answer? Do you do much strength training?

I'm on day day 8. Went out to lunch and had the protein but no veggies or fruit. Hope i still lose for the day!

  6. I measure my BF with the Tanita BC1000. But I have another scale that checks BF too??? It has been reading riduculous! (31%) I weigh 131 pounds and have a good deal of muscle...so I don't know.
My run today went really well, except my heart rate was WAY out of my zone...so I will check with coach. I used a gel....it is like taking rocket fuel when you haven't had any sugar (minus the fruits obviously). Good news is I am back to being dizzy if I stand up too quick...that means I burnt through the gel, maybe I will be in ketosis again tomorrow...here's hoping!!!

CARBS are evil....even when I am leaner it is because I have been eating just lean meats and veg...works every time to pop the muscles!

  7. Molly-

I did do alot of working out and strength training before I started HCG. Even though I was fat, I was pretty solid :) After my last round I stopped exercising because the scale stayed the same and I did not want to mess with it. I think that was a mistake. This time I am going to keep up on my walking and maybe some light resistance thru out the rest of p2 and p3 and then increase it in p4 without going too crazy, but hopefully enough to keep my muscle and tone up all over. The carb thing isn't too bad for me now that I don't crave them anymore and I love the almond flour alternatives. How did your last round go? How are you doing this round?

    Phoenix-
So when you are not on p2 anymore do you count calories and fat and all that? I ate whatever I wanted except sugar/starch for the most part, and did not monitor fats. Weight stayed the same, but obviously compositiion changed. Do you think that by just keeping up with the cardio and some weights that I can continue my same eating that has very little processed carbs?

I definetly think that the way you eat in P3 would substain adding walking and weights, maybe even more cardio. You eat and stabalize well, but adding those things would make you more solid...

So yes I have to be accountable to a coach for everything I eat. When I started into P4 I upped my training and gained a pound a week basically...eating well, but not perfect. Carbs are still my nemisis (sp?).

  10. Jen, I did start adding processed carbs during P4. I'm talking whole grain pastas, breads and cereals. I don't mean junk food. I was diagnosed with insulin resistance and wonder if that had anything to do with it. I am going to stick to natural carbs when I'm finished with this round. I agree with Pheonix and think processed carbs are evil!

Anyways, I've really been toning up during this round. Only time will tell if my theory is correct.
